South Sudan hires US lobby group to avoid war crime charges

South Sudan President Salva Kiir has hired retired Ambassador Michael Ranneberger to link his government with America’s Donald Trump. In a two year contract, Kiir’s administration will pay $3.7 million (Sh375 million) to see Ranneberger better ties between the two countries.

The contract is between South Sudan’s government and Gainful Solutions, a lobbying firm run by Ranneberger and his partner Soheil Nazari-Kangarlou. Ranneberger was US Ambassador to Kenya under former President George W. Bush from August 2006, but continued under former President Barack Obama until May 2011.
